The result is a more anaerobic metabolism which produces more waste and less energy and a self-perpetuating cycle begins. Cancer Treatment Information MLD is an important treatment for cancer patients and this course has been designed with that in mind, this will enable you to use this with family and friends with cancer unless active cancer or an undiagnosed lump - in the case of a tumour, if it has not been removed or is not under medical control.
Contra indication: Active cancer patients or an undiagnosed lump - in the case of a tumour, if it has not been removed or is not under medical control. Please note however that to treat cancer patients and to charge for the treatment FHT and CTHA will not cover a one day course and you will need to complete a longer course.
The FHT and the CTHA and accrediting bodies who insure this course's requirements would be 75 learning hours for this which is around a ten day course. However you will still be insured to use MLD techniques for other conditions swelling, oedema etc. However you may wish to check with your own insurance company as they are all different, if you are not with FHT, CTHA or the guild you may find your insurance company will cover you for use with cancer patients then you will be able to use it and charge for the treatment, but it is best to check with your insurance company first if this is what you wish to do. This is however a standalone treatment and insurable, many students also use this with their clients who do not have cancer as it is a very effective treatment and a very popular course. You do not have to use it with cancer patients as it has many benefits, for example clients find this treatment as great way to release a build-up of toxins and much more.
You can however still gain insurance with this one day course, you can use this treatment professionally and charge your clients. We have been advised the following by the Holistic Guild with regard to treating clients with cancer: The Holistic Guild will cover you if you get a doctors note and they have advised us to send the following to therapists/students: Illnesses eg cancer and kidney problems. It is the responsibility of the therapist to adhere to industry best and safe practice when treating a member of the public. The government have their own bodies who set down in writing what students must learn during their time at college studying for an NVQ ( or equivalent) in Beauty/ Holistic or Nail treatments. For our industry it is HABIA who set these standards. Please note this is an advanced massage course. Please Check you have the right qualifications for this Course Before Booking - CLICK HERE You are required to have previous massage experience.
You must have a level 3 in Full Body Massage or a Level 3 in Sports massage to be accepted which is an ITEC, VTCT, BTEC level 3 or similar qualification. Please note if your previous training was a weekend massage or 1 - 3 day course, this is not a level 3 that's required (not enough practical hours) and not accepted. A qualification in reflexology or Indian head massage cannot be accepted as this is not full body massage. Certificates, Times, Venue and Balance Payment Information. Certificate - Insurance - Brands Why is our course so popular? This is because the certification we give you allows a student to work with which ever particular brand they choose to purchase later and use with their clients.
Importantly as we teach effective and safe methods with products our tutors love to use but do not insist on the students who attend to have to continue with any one given brand afterwards to gain insurance and use what they have learned with us professionally. This then allows students to make their own choice of brand and also means that they are not tied by any particular brand when it comes to their insurance, so should they ever have a problem and if a claim is made and they have changed brand, they would still be covered (please check this with your insurance provider) giving you a lot more flexibility. This also means you are not tied into buying brands from us which is very restrictive which only makes the school you are buying them from money but does not benefit you. This means the certificate you gain with us gives you the freedom to use what ever brand you wish, the tutors can guide you to good products but ultimately it is your choice!
Why Book with us? We are an award winning school, Number One Training School (out of over 80 schools) in the Beauty Industry Survey - By The Guild of Beauty and Holistic Therapists. Feedback from our Students Feedback from Carole Hopkins My tutor was welcoming and put everyone at ease right away. Her teaching was easy to follow and her instructions clear. She made the whole day a very pleasant experience and I feel confident to practise MLD now. A big thank you to her.
I will be back. Feedback from Fionnuala Cullum The course was very informative and well structured. The practical was explained in easy to follow steps and the tutor was more than happy to answer any questions or to repeat something I didn't understand. The tutor was very friendly. It was obvious she was passionate about the topic and wanted to share her knowledge with others. She explained things clearly and kept making sure that I understood the subject matter. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to learn the practical element of a massage in one day but I left the course feeling confident and ready to start using it in my clinic. I would consider doing another course.
Feedback from Elaine Ellis I really enjoyed the course. It was taught at a good pace, tutor was very knowledgeable and approachable. However when training with us this allows us to offer our training courses at a lower cost allowing you to spend what is right for you on the necessary products rather than buying unnecessary and costly equipment. The tutor will be happy to discuss products, prices and how much you can charge for the therapy on your training day.
The tutor will also cover the insurance information for you too, we receive a discount with a large insurance company covering our training for those of you new to this field or wanting to change to a new and more affordable cover. Our Promise To You Our tutors are so confident that one day is adequate for our one Diploma courses, due to the small numbers they teach, that if they or you feel you need to come back to repeat the course, you can do so free of charge when they have a place available.
Can I learn everything in one day for your one day diploma courses? Many other companies offer similar courses but have much larger classes, therefore it has to be taught over a longer period of time. You may be asked to come back a second day to go over what you have learnt as the tutor does not have time to get around the class due to the large numbers. Some other schools offer their courses over 2 days, sometimes it is a good way to get you to pay more but very often you will learn the same routines so what is the difference? They will often have much larger classes so they will have to spread their training over a longer period of time however we believe in small numbers so you receive one to one tuition. We also send you a fantastic Anatomy and Physiology manual before you attend our courses; another reason why some training classes elsewhere are over 2 days.
This will be due to the fact the tutor will spend a lot of the time reading about the A & P on the day which we feel you should not pay for, so we give you a free manual so you can to do this in your own time. Relevant anatomy and physiology will of course be covered on the day. Please however remember this manual is an extra freebie from us, your course training manual is included in the cost of the course and you will receive this fully bound hard copy on the day of your training. Venue Times If you are attending our one day courses the times are as follows: 10.00am - 4.30pm Weekdays or 10.30am - 5pm if you choose to attend on a weekend date.
For our one day courses, you will receive a 45 min lunch break and a short afternoon break also. WHERE DO I FIND YOUR FULL COURSE INFORMATION?
WHERE DO YOU OFFER THIS COURSE AND WHERE DO I FIND THE DATES? Easy - Just click on the tab on this page called COURSE EXPLAINED - There you will find the full course information and prices Then to locate dates and venues on that page, simply click on the purple button that says view dates.
This will take you to our dates page which has a list of all of the venues around the UK, Scotland and Ireland offering this course and dates available. PLEASE NOTE THE DETAILS BELOW OFFERS HELPFUL EXTRA INFORMATION THAT YOU MAY WITH TO READ AT A LATER DATE.

I have noticed some of your courses are just one day, can I learn all I need to in just one day? Our philosophy is to keep classes small and give more attention to each student, thus cutting down on class hours. You will learn the same technique offered by other companies however we pride ourselves on one to one tuition in smaller classes. You may see other companies offering similar courses over two or three days, the difference can be that they take much larger classes and need to be able to get around to all students. This takes them a longer time (due to the large numbers of students in the class) to make sure they are overseeing what the students are doing. We often offer the same training techniques as others, however as we only take very small numbers we are able to teach the course in one day. We ask our students to fill out a feedback form after their training and often the comments are that they were surprised and pleased how much they learnt in one day.
They tell us they would take another course with us due to the high standard we offer both with our tutors and the course material given on the day. Sometimes students tell us they have learnt more on a one day course with us than on a 2 or 3 day course with another company due to the one to one tuition we offer. Certificates are only given once students have demonstrated that they have absorbed the information presented during the day and after applying a satisfactory treatment observed by the tutor.
To ensure that we act responsibly and carry out good practice, should the tutor feel that you would benefit from further training, certification may/will be held back. You will be offered the opportunity/be asked to attend the next available course that has a space, which is offered free of charge. This is rare but we would not be responsible if we sent out students when the tutor felt they were unsafe in any way, as a day to learn a therapy is only a short time and the standard must be high enough to enable them to issue you with a certificate. Our tutors are there to help, with small classes it is easy to absorb the techniques you are taught. There are no exams to sit for our 1 day courses, only a practical assessment.
The Prerequisite/Requirements for Attending this Course The prerequisite for attending this course, we are guided by what the professional bodies and insurance companies ask for. To attend this course you must have the following: This course is for existing therapists ONLY - age 16 and over, please note anyone under the age of 18 their parents are asked to book their course for them or an adult over the age of 18. The Tutors Commitment to You They are so confident that one day is adequate for many of our courses (due to the small numbers they teach) that if they feel you need to come back to repeat the course, you can do this free of charge. 13 CPD course points has been awarded for this course by the beauty guild, please check with whom you are registered for their guidelines on how many points they award for one day courses as they all differ. Your training provider will be able to confirm if the course you have taken is to a level 3 that is required, we cannot tell you this as it has to come from who you trained with. If you have taken a level 3 ITEC, BTEC or similar and you know your qualification is acceptable please go ahead and book when you are ready. We will require a copy of your qualification before you attend (this is to be sent to your tutor) if it is not clear that your qualification is a level 3 in full body massage you will be asked by your tutor to provide a letter from your training provider to confirm that the course covered 100 hours of practical massage training (which is the level 3 we require) if however your qualification is an overseas certificate please read the information below.
